School Workshops

My teaching experience is broad ranging and I am skilled at pitching workshops to suit group and individual need. I’m genuinely comfortable, working with all age groups from 1 to 101 and adapting to specific learning, behavioural or emotional needs. I work throughout the education system.

Whether storytelling or story making for school workshops I work with awareness of what children and  young people need through the key stages and attend to literacy targets. Workshops involve  drawing from a variety of story making structures and stimulus, creative writing and poetry provocations, spoken word and dramatic styles. School gardens, or nearby places of interest, are excellent places to begin working with people.

I take an holistic approach to learning which allows for different learning styles and individual needs. Speaking, listening, writing and thinking become embedded through an enjoyable and memorable experience. Learning through creativity has well known personal benefits for confidence, working with others, communication skills, building empathy for self and others and much more. Indeed, much has been written about the potential power, and adaptability of using storytelling in education.

I work with:

  • special educational needs
  • behavioural or emotional issues
  • gifted and talented
  • forgotten middle learners
  • English as an additional language
  • cultural diversity
  • excluded pupils
  • physical disability
  • higher education
  • early years
  • teachers
  • student teachers
